and you do NOT need any letters of recommendation or a personal
statement/essay. You must take the SAT or ACT to apply.
1. Log on to CSUmentor.org
2. Enter your grades in the online application from
your transcript. Do not send your transcript unless requested.
3. Official SAT or ACT scores must be sent. Log
onto to Collegeboard.com and ACT.org for instructions. For SAT
scores: use the SAT institution code 3594.
CSUMentor will store your scores for ALL CSU campuses to utilize.
For the ACT: all your schools have access to your score after you send it to one
school.
4. Enter your college selections in Naviance.
University of California (UC)
Deadline: 11/30
Your application
period is the month of November. You do NOT need any letters of recommendation. You DO need a personal statement/essay
(note there are two). You must take the SAT or ACT and at least two SAT Subject Tests in different content areas to apply.
1. Log onto universityofcalifornia.edu
2. Enter
your grades in the online application from your transcript. Do not send your transcript unless requested.
3.
Compose your Personal Statements and Additional Comments in a Word document. Copy and paste your final, edited versions
into your online application.
4. Official SAT or ACT scores must be sent. Log onto to Collegeboard.com and ACT.org
for directions.
5. Enter your college selections in Naviance.
Common Application Schools
Deadline: Varies
The
application period for common app schools VARIES GREATLY; pay attention to deadlines. You DO need letters of recommendation.
You must take the SAT or ACT in most cases. SAT Subject Tests may also be required. Develop a spreadsheet to help you keep
track of which of your selected schools require which tests. A spreadsheet with links to your schools, Collegeboard,
Commonapp, ACT, etc along with usernames and websites is also very helpful.
1. Log onto CommonApp.org
2. Select your college(s) and follow instructions EXACTLY.
3. Log onto Naviance and list the
college(s) you will be applying to before you submit your applications through CommonApp.org.
Please note that many colleges that use the common application require supplements to be completed and submitted; allow sufficient
time in your schedule to complete these with the same level of care that you apply to your essays.
4. Your counselor will submit CDMHS's
secondary school report form in lieu of the forms provided by your colleges. Please click on the appropriate counselor at
CDMHS.net on the counseling link. Follow the directions for the letter of recommendation packet.
5. If you need a teacher letter of recommendation,
be sure to follow the instructions given by your teacher and give the packet to your teacher AT LEAST 4 weeks before
the due date. If you need a counselor letter of recommendation, see the instructions for Counselor Letter of Recommendation.
Your counselor needs this packet 4 weeks prior to the application deadline.
6. Return to CommonApp.org
and submit your application online.
7. If applying to additional schools later, you must email your counselor
and teachers to notify them so they can
send the required materials. Make sure you receive an email from them confirming
the request was received.
8. Log onto to Collegeboard.com and ACT.org to send your official SAT or ACT scores. Do this well in advance of the
deadlines.
9. Ask your counselor to send a Midyear Report by emailing them after semester
grades are posted in February. This is NOT automatic.
All Other Colleges and Universities
Deadline: Varies

school.
1. Log onto the admissions websites of the
college(s) to which you intend to apply via Naviance.
2. Requirements vary greatly from college to college.
Make sure you follow instructions carefully.
3. For colleges that require teacher or counselor letters of recommendation,
please follow the given instructions for counselor letters of recommendation.
